The concept of fresh ice cream made in  “Sancha” (machine used for handmade ice cream) for commercial sale was developed by Shri Nemchand as there was no Real ice cream which had the freshness of fruits, high fat content in milk. The Palanpuri Jains settled in Mumbai guided & motivated Shri Nemchand to start production commercially and in 1971 Apsara Ice Cream opened its first outlet at Walkeshwar, Mumbai.

The first flavors that were churned out of the wooden “sanchas” were of sitaful, kesar pista, strawberry & orange. These were first “egg-less” ice cream varieties produced for commercial consumption. The jain community welcomed the change and “Apsara Ice Cream” was an instant hit at weddings & private functions of Jains & Gujaratis.

Apsara Ice Cream introduced another flavor – chocolate in 1975 and with this Apsara Ice cream to be known as “Taste Creator” in ice cream industry. In the year 1988, Roasted Almond flavor was launched and the creation till date is known as the Legendary Flavor of Ice creams in any category.

Apsara Ice Cream has lived up to its title as “Taste Creator” by introducing 2-3 flavors every year since 1988 and today there is an cool array of 35 flavors in market.

Apsara Ice Cream opened its outlets mainly to facilitate availability to the consumer from Walkeshwar to western Suburbs.
